Working Mom

Working Mom

Each new day it's a different tale.

I work and go to college everyday without any fail.

I have two kids that I adore.

Aside from working, I also do all the cleaning chores.

My husband helps me as much as he can.

I have his support, he's a wonderful man.

At times in my life I'm very stressed.

But over all, I feel very blessed.

I'll be teaching soon, that what I aspire

Hopefully someday I'll be admire.

like a lamp in the daylight

With only my thoughts for company
I walk over compressed pebbles and concrete
Down the road to higher learning

I sit in chair thats too small

Rushing, overwhelming, hot
Rock the baby. Take the quiz. Make her meal.
Finish the assignment....I have not!

"Why do I gotta do this?"
....one thousandth and one time...
Them!" (in a blissful hiss)
My day is happening.

Homework, backpacks, bus
He hugs. He smiles. He melts me.
"Miss, we had a great day, it wuz?
Hasta manana, Maestra!"

Bath, bed, covers
She hugs. She smiles. She melts me.
"We had a great day? she mutters
I Love You Grandma!"

This mask I wear from day to day
Is me trying to set my problems stray

But the masquerade will not go on forever
Soon everyone will see this act was my greatest endeavor

My eyes will tell the stories of my past
And my lips of the loves that never did last

With all these hardships I can’t fake a smile
I can’t even say things with the same grace and style

Though this disguise will soon be revealed
